Vicki Slavin passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren on February 4, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 82.

Born in Latvia on August 12, 1943, Vicki’s early life was shaped by resilience and movement. She immigrated first to Sweden and later to Canada, where she built a life defined by strength, independence, and deep love for her family. Though she lived in many cities across Canada, Vancouver was always home, and it is where she ultimately took her final breath.

Vicki worked in many professional office roles throughout her life, most notably at the Vancouver Police Department as a civilian professional, where she formed lasting friendships, she deeply valued. She was admired for her dedication, warmth, and sharp sense of humor.

A true lady in every sense, Vicki was beautiful, funny, and full of life. She loved shopping, made the best coffee, and never turned down dessert. Her laughter, style, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Vicki is survived by her beloved daughter, Corinna Gagnier (Lionel); her grandchildren, Allora Ryan (Clayten), Tayler Buckley (Jarred), Blake (Kai) Buckley, Logan Gagnier and Cordell Gagnier; her great-grandchildren, Koston and Meryk and her bonus great grandchildren Jaden and Aiyannah. She is also survived by her siblings Rita, Valarie, Ted (Vicky), and Roland (Debbie).

She was predeceased by her mother, Alma Anete Ozolins, and her sisters, Ritma and Anne.

Vicki’s legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the friendships she cherished, and the many lives she touched with her kindness, humor, and love

We would like to thank the nurses at VGH for the care and compassion they showed to Mom/Nana. A special thank you to Nurse Sara and Nurse Ashley for their unwavering support and kindness — you made her passing more bearable and comforted our family when we needed it most. We are deeply grateful.

my nana. she is in the trees, the strong wind, the full moon. she taught me how to be strong, brave, and unyielding. the pain of her early departure is matched only by the peace in knowing she is resting.

Oh sweet little Nana, I will always hold you so near and dear to my heart. You and I always had such good conversation, many I will keep in memory and look back on fondly when I miss you.
You were a one in a million and I, and my family were so blessed to be your bonus family 🖤
I’m sure you and Jesus are up there having a wonderful time.
Until we meet again.
